About DampGuard Lab
We help homeowners and renters get clear, practical answers about damp, indoor humidity and mold — grounded in EPA guidance, not scare tactics or a remediation sales pitch.
Moisture problems are confusing on purpose. Official pages are accurate but dense, forums are readable but often wrong, and a lot of "advice" online exists to sell you an $8,000 remediation job you may not need. We sit in between: plain-language explanations built on EPA protocols and building-science references.
How we write
Every guide starts from a real question — what size dehumidifier you need, whether bleach actually kills mold, what a $15 test kit can and can't tell you. We answer in everyday words, give concrete numbers (pint ratings, %RH targets, pCi/L), flag the common mistakes, and point to the EPA source so you can check it yourself. We update guides as guidance changes.
What we are not
We are an independent educational site — not a testing laboratory, a remediation contractor, or a medical authority. We do not run a lab and we do not test units in our own facility; our picks are built from manufacturer specifications, EPA protocols and public building-science sources. Nothing here is medical advice. For mold larger than 10 square feet, hidden mold inside walls or HVAC, or any health concern, see a certified mold professional.
